Introducing the New “Gold Card” Immigration Program: A Pathway to U.S. Citizenship for Global Investors

On April 3, 2025, President Donald Trump officially announced the launch of the new “$5 Million Trump Card,” informally known as the “Gold Card”, a groundbreaking immigration initiative aimed at attracting wealthy foreign nationals to the United States.

This newly unveiled program is designed to provide a direct path to U.S. residency and eventual citizenship for qualified applicants. The Gold Card initiative effectively replaces the existing EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, which previously required a minimum investment of $800,000 and the creation of at least ten full-time jobs for U.S. workers.

Under the Gold Card program, eligible applicants must invest a minimum of $5 million into the U.S. economy. In addition to the financial requirement, applicants will undergo a thorough vetting process to confirm they are “world-class global citizens”, a standard expected to include background checks, financial transparency, and a demonstrated record of international success or influence.

While details regarding investment structure and processing timelines are still emerging, the Gold Card represents a significant shift in U.S. immigration policy, signaling a strong emphasis on wealth-based immigration and global competitiveness.

At GAB Sterling LLP, our immigration team is closely monitoring the rollout of this program and is ready to advise high-net-worth individuals on their eligibility, investment options, and the application process for the Gold Card.
